Hermione walked out towards the mountains, climbing up them to sit at the top. As she climbed her mind drifted off to everything that had happened thus making tears form in her eyes.
She sat at the top of the mountain and looked around, wondering what she was going to tell Ron. It was true that she liked him even loved him but then she had to go and make a stupid move like that. She sighed as she hit her head with her hands repeatedly as if beating herself up would help any. It had been days since she spoke to Ron and it was killing her to see the way he was acting about it. She hadn't meant to harm him so much but the fact that Lance was nice to her tricked her so much. It was probably the damn Romeo and Juliet that caught me she thought as she looked at the clouds in the sky. How could I let something so...idiotic make me seem so idiotic? I'm stupid

Ron had finally pulled himself from his bout of self-pitying after a few days, and decided that some fresh air might just do him some good. His heart still ached whenever Hermione's name was brought up in conversation, but he found that this happened less and less, probably because his friends knew better than to torture him. Their pitying glances, however, proved to be too much lately, so he ventured on alone.
The mountain, which had once seemed to high, so impossible to climb, now didn't seem too bad. Hand over hand, foot over foot he climbed, slowly but surely reaching the top. It wasn't hard, probably because he'd faced much worse on his adventures with Harry and Hermione. Hermione. he thought grimly, frowning and pushing her image from his mind. But, it proved to be pointless, for when he reached the top, she was there. In the flesh. Scowling and wondering why fate seemed to torture him, he turned his back to her, having no desire to talk. Instead, he stared in awe at the view, peering over the edge of the mountain, trying to ignore his frantically-beating heart.

She turned her gaze when she heard someone climbing up the side and looked over, her eyes growing wide when she say Ron there. She wanted to talk to him to tell him that she had broken up with Lance but when he turned his back on her she frowned and turned her head, frantically praying that she wouldn't cry again.
She looked out towards the island view, wondering if, even though his back was to her, she should tell him.

Ron felt her gaze on him, but stubbornly refused to meet her eye. He wasn't about to apologize for anything, even though he figured that he may have acted a bit rash... It didn't matter. She had hurt him, and he didn't care about the consequences just yet. So, he focused on the scene before him, the tiny trees all the way at the bottom. He carefully sat down, his legs dangling over the edge.

She sighed as she stood up and stepped up behind him, staring at him. "Ron...talk to me please" she said softly, standing back a few feet from him as if afraid he would reach out and try to hurt her but she didn't truly believe that she was just preparing herself for him to yell at her instead of just talk to her

At the sound of her voice, Ron stiffened dramatically. It sounded close, as though she had walked over to him. She couldn't have just talked to him from where she was? Or, talked at him, rather, for he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of actually carrying on a conversation.
Reluctantly, he turned to face her. His eyes were blood-shot, from many sleepless nights, and he was willing to bet that his hair hardly improved his image, having not even bothered to brush it. His gaze, slightly cold still, landed on her briefly, before he turned back to the side of the mountain. "What?" he asked simply, giving her permission to talk to him. For now.

She sighed as she kneeled down on the ground where she was so she was at eye level with the back of his head. She hated the appearance he had to himself now and it pained her drastically to know that she was the cause of it. "I broke up with him. There wasn't any feelings there. It was that damn Shakespeare shit that we read that got to me. I never really did like him Ron" she said staring at the back of his head "I like you not him"

Ron just nodded, almost imperceptibly at her words, not knowng what to believe. He had seen her at that party, with his arms around her... she was smiling. She was happy, he knew, and wasn't sure if he should believe her now. Had there really never been feelings between them? Would the next guy who could sweet-talk come and sweep her off her feet, leaving him in the shadows? He didn't know, so he chose not to respond, still looking straight out in front of him, though not really seeing anything.

"Ron please. Can't you just give me a second chance? I mean we've been friends since first year. Lets not lose any of that now" she said softly, standing up and walking away slowly. She stopped at the other edge of the mountain and looked down, stepping forward slightly but not moving over the edge as she watched the trees sway in the breeze below.

Ron thought it over, his mind flooded with memories that they had together. True, many of them were unpleasant, but a fair amount he wouldn't have given up for the world. His mind set, he stood up, with some difficulty due to lack of sleep. Carefully, his gaze downcast, he walked purposefully over to Hermione and stood next to her, though still refused to look at her. "You're really over, then? You and Lance?"

She nodded, looking over at him "He didn't really care about me anyways. I heard about him flirting with some other girl so it didn't really matter to me. I didn't really want to be in a relationship that held no feelings" she said softly, looking down

Ron thought it over for a few short moments, then nodded again, still looking straight ahead of him, though glancing at her once, very quickly. "Well, alright then." he said simply, with the slightest trace of a smile on his face.

She smiled and lightly took his hand into hers, caressing the top of it with her thumb "I'm really sorry for hurting you so badly. I didn't mean to"

"You didn't hurt me." Ron lied stubbornly. Nonetheless, however, he smiled when he felt her hand in his, and intertwined their fingers. "Well, not much, atleast."

She smiled slightly and ran her fingers of her free hand through his hair, trying to fix it some "Your hair is so messy" she said softly, smiling
